Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia County, Kenya is home to a wide variety of African wildlife and even a few domestic livestock herds. The ‘living laboratory’ is a 48,000-acre large area made up of cattle ranches and wildlands.
View stunning scenes of the wildlife in their natural habitats with this African waterhole camera live stream.
The watering hole, also known as the hippo pool, is a local spot for resident hippos as well as other wild animals living in the reserve.
It’s part of the Ewaso Ng’iro River that runs through Mpala.
The large hippopotamuses spend their days laying in the sun or enjoying the cool waters. They spend their nights foraging for food but make their way back by morning.
The live wildlife cameras near the watering hole often capture the jaunty river horses playing, swimming, or sleeping on the banks.
You can also often hear them grunting, growling and splashing in the water.
The best viewing times for this live safari cam are at sunrise or during a splendid African sunset.
This is when the majority of the animals gather at the water.
Although there’s also a chance to catch a family of elephants stopping for an afternoon drink.
Or a spectacular bird swooping in from the skies during the day.

What Did You Spot Today?
Mainly the same old elephants repeated over and over in the irritating “highlights”. Can we have much less of this please?
Thanks for your message, Jack.
At the time of writing, both wildlife cams are live.
Enjoy,
Michael
No Michael. They are not live when showing exactly the same elephant “highlights” over and over again.
Hi Jack,
Which page or video player are you specifically talking about?
It seems we’re not talking about the same camera.
I checked things once again, and all is working perfectly on this page (Mpala Watering Hole Cam).
I even saw a hippo grazing along the riverbank.
Cheers,
Michael
